LHC switches on today.

Hooray! It's the biggest experiment the planet has ever seen and will soon be colliding particles. (Next month I believe - it is only being fully 'switched on' today.)

And of course there are naysayers and purveyors of doom. To whom I quote Dr Brian Cox:

"Anyone who thinks the LHC will destroy the world is a twat."
